There are times in life when we all should be able to accept constructive criticism, or even offer it. But that is far different from being judgmental or critical of another person. One is done from concern, and in love, while the other comes from an attitude of superiority. And a routine complaint placed against Christians today, deserved or not, is of having a critical, judgmental attitude of others, and not just those outside our church, but even within it. This attitude should never be found within the heart of a Christian. So in this portion of the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 7, Pastor Tim Bresnahan exposes the dangers of having a hyper-critical spirit and it’s effect not only on those such an attitude is shown to, but upon the life and heart of one who does carry such an attitude within themself.
