What are those terrifying words none would ever seek to hear from Christ? Well here they are. ‘Matthew 7:21 ;Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’’ What a tragedy for those who will stand before our Lord, and hear such words after having pleaded before him, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not do these things in your name?’ What a circumstance to find one’s self in! And in this sermon from by Pastor Tim Bresnahan, we seek the deep reasons behind why such pleadings before the throne of Christ occur, but far more importantly, we come to understand how one stands before the throne of the Lord, and hear, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
